Ana Tzarev: Exposed, A Secret Garden

Kasım 23, 2011 01:00

International artist Ana Tzarev, whose sole global representative is the Ana Tzarev Gallery, one of New York’s most popular galleries, was in Istanbul for the opening of her exhibition Exposed: A Secret Garden at santralistanbul. The exhibition was on view between November 23rd - December 28th at the Main Gallery of santralistanbul. The exhibition debutted 40 of Ana Tzarev’s newest paintings for the first time.

The exhibition features the most vivid, energetic and colorful works of Ana Tzarev whose paintings recallt he works of post-impressionist and modern masters. Flowers were the main focus in her paintings, indicating her lifelong passion for them.

Tzarev, whose work is held in collections throughout the world from Europe to Australia, is greatly inspiredby Hawaiian, Japanese and African cultures and arts. Her work reflects her in depth knowledge regarding the cultural history of these diverse lands: "My paintings tell stories rich in the diversity, customs and traditions that shaped civilization throughout time. I document today's culture for future generations so that they can look back with pride on their own heritage and also appreciate the many different cultures that enrich the world."

With studios in both Monaco and Thailand, the artist Ana Tzarev - who started painting later in life similar to great artists like Gauguin and Van Gogh -is visiting Turkey for the first time: “I have always wanted to have an exhibition in Istanbul and now I feel very proud that Exposed: A Secret Garden is held here. I grew up listening to the stories my father told, who was a devotee to Ataturk. Having my exhibition in Istanbul is very close to my heart.”

A designer of textiles previously, she traveled the world while she was working with her husband creating the department stores in New Zealand. As she was collecting items for the department store all around the world, she was able to experience many cultures and fell in love with the richness and uniquely beautiful art forms each had.

A workshop for 30 school children will also take place atsantralistanbul in conjunction with Ana Tzarev’s visit on the 21st November, prior to the opening of the exhibition. The children will get a chance to work with the artist, creating their own secret garden. The artwork from the children will then be on exhibition at the Ana Tzarev Gallery in New York in 2012.

After Istanbul, Ana Tzarev’s Exposed: A Secret Garden exhibition will travel to two more venues in 2012, one at Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris and the other at the Saatchi Gallery in London.
